Auto-Responders

Instructions below are for Windows interface/old interface design. For new interface (Unix customers), please click here.

Auto-responders are used if you would like an automatic pre-determined reply to be sent to anyone who sends emails to a specific address. One reason to use this feature is to assure your customers that their email was received; or, for example, to send the same generic information to everyone who emails info@yourdomain.com. (Autoresponders cannot also be POP3 email accounts or forwarders.)

To setup an email auto-responder, use the "Add an email autoresponder" link. Click on the "Select file" link and choose the text file that you would like sent.  (You will need to create the text file first and upload it to your account.)  Enter in the name of the auto-responder account and then a "reply to" email address.  The subject line, which could be something like "Thank you for your inquiry" also needs to be entered.

The "Also Notify" field is used when you would like copies of the incoming emails to be forwarded to another person automatically. This is a handy option if you would like someone to reply to certain detailed questions in addition to sending the autoresponder message. More information

For Example:

Customers often send emails to info@yourdomain.com asking for the same contact information, and you always respond with the same reply each time. In order to save time, you create a text file named "reply.txt" that reads:

"Thanks for your interest in our services. To contact us by phone, please call 888-555-5555 or visit us in person at 333 Grand Avenue."

When setting up an autoresponder for info@yourdomain.com, you will select your text file "reply.txt".  From now on, any customer sending an email question to this email address will automatically receive a reply with this text.
